The Clinic provides a variety of health-related services to the students:
Evaluation of students with illness or injury, administering prescribed medications and treatments, coordinating health screenings, and providing first aid and basic medical care. All St. Joan of Arc school employees are CPR/AED, first aid, and epi-pen trained. If your child requires medication to be taken at school, a diocesan authorization form must be completed by a parent and signed by a physician (this includes over the counter medicine). The medication form is valid for one school year only. Please only one medication per form. All medications are to be kept in the Clinic, unless a physician deems the medication a rescue medicine-then it may be carried on the person.
The Diocese of Palm Beach requires that, prior to attendance in school, each student must have on file a certificate of immunization and a current physical. Attached are the guidelines for immunizations. All forms submitted must be the originals. An exemption from immunization requirements is not permissible for religious, philosophical, or personal reasons. Students participating in sports or certain after-school clubs are required to have a valid sports physical on file, this in addition to a regular school physical.
If a student complains of feeling ill or is injured, they will come to the Clinic. You will be contacted and asked to pick them up (if necessary). Please keep your child home until they are well enough to return to school. A reminder that a student must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of medicine, before they may return. Providing a safe and healthy environment is of the utmost importance for all staff members and students. Please have proper working phone numbers, in the event we need to reach you or your emergency contact. Lastly, please keep me informed about any changes to your child’s health throughout the year.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
