Firefighter Presentation at SJA

April 15, 2008

Captain Hayden from Firestation 59 visited SJA,  and gave an exciting presentation about firefighters.  He and the crew described the engine, and how everything about their job helps them get to a fire quickly.  The students asked some great questions too.

2nd Step Program

Please visit the site again soon!  There will be current posts of our projects and what is happening at school.

Kindergarten and 1st grade practiced peaceful problem solving and ways to use your words if you are upset. Together we did skits so we could apply what we learned.

1st Grade Busy Bodies

We have been busy in 1st grade becoming good readers and writers. Our latest writing project was the descriptive paragraph, and the student chose their favorite toy or a pet.
Our last project involved learning about life sciences. I will post some photos of the project. We enjoyed watching the butterflies and releasing them with Father Barnes. He said blessing for creation as we said goodbye to them one by one!Our science table!Butterfly Larvae

Our current unit is about the states of matter, and how something can be categorized by its characteristics. We practiced predicting and making observations with bubbles too!
